The Nonsuch Expeditions goal is to develop and leverage technology to solve conservation challenges, and the latest part of our conservation toolkit is Genomics. Starting in the summer of 2023 our team has been collaborating new Bermuda based, Genomics NGO BioQuest, for which Nonsuch Expeditions founder J-P Rouja is also the Co-Founder and Executive Director.
BioQuest is leveraging Genomics to support BioDiversity Conservation in Bermuda, the Caribbean, and SIDS (Small Island Developing States) throughout the World, whilst building local and regional human and technical capacity.
One of their goals is creating Reference Genomes and follow-on genomic population studies, starting with the species of interest in each country which would include any Endangered / Critically Endangered Species, Species of interest to the Environmental and Fisheries teams for each country, and Invasive Species that need to be monitored.
